CSU Secretary-General Martin Huber described this in the ‘Handelsblatt’ as ‘AfD deputies going to Russia to discuss the enforcement of Russian interests with the Kremlin. That is treason.’ However, SPD faction leader Henning Homann joked, ‘Urban is cozying up to the enemy.’ The deputy leader of the Left Party faction, Stefan Hartmann, remarked, ‘Even the US president has not been able to persuade Putin to negotiate a ceasefire. The AfD certainly won’t be able to do so.’
