Corinthians has reached an agreement with striker Memphis Depay for the payment of overdue bonuses and sign-on fees. The club owes approximately R$ 18 million to the Dutch attacker, including sign-on fees agreed upon a year ago and bonuses paid to the player. The proposed payment plan involves halving the amount, with half to be paid in monthly installments until February next year, and the other half to be settled in one lump sum in March. Memphis has indicated willingness to accept the staggered payment plan proposed by Corinthians. Of the total, R$ 11 million are related to bonuses (R$ 6 million for participating in 70% of games and R$ 5 million for 29 goal involvements), while the remaining R$ 7 million are sign-on fees still pending. The tentative agreement comes a day after Memphis’s one-year anniversary of his debut for Corinthians. On September 21 last year, the Dutch player made his first appearance coming off the bench against Atletico-GO at Neo Química Arena in the Brazilian league. Memphis has played 38 games this year, scoring eight goals and providing ten assists. Rested from the game against Sport yesterday, he is expected to be back in action against Flamengo on Sunday. The agreement between Corinthians and Memphis regarding the outstanding amounts was first reported by Radio Bandeirantes and confirmed by UOL.
