Palmeiras defeated Cruzeiro in the second leg but couldn’t overturn the defeat from the first leg, falling in the semifinals of the Brazilian women’s championship. The Palmeiras women won 2-1 at Independência Stadium, but the team from Minas Gerais qualified for their first final with a 4-3 aggregate score and will face Corinthians.
Karla and Amanda Gutierres scored for the Palestra team, while Marília scored for Cruzeiro. In the first leg, Letícia Ferreira, Vanesssinha, and Gaby Soares netted for Cruzeiro at Arena Barueri, with Andressinha pulling one back for Palmeiras.
The finals will take place on September 7 and 14, the next two Sundays. The times of the matches are yet to be announced. Both finalists will qualify for next year’s Libertadores tournament.
