CSKA Moscow secured a victory over Dynamo Makhachkala in a penalty shootout in the second leg match of the quarterfinals of the Russian Cup. The match took place in Moscow and ended 2-1 in favor of the hosts. Makhachkala’s defender Andres Alarcon opened the scoring in the first half, and then scored an own goal in the second half. CSKA’s Matija Popovich scored the winning goal in the 90th minute.
The first leg between the two teams ended with a 1-0 victory for Makhachkala, leading the winner to be determined in a penalty shootout, where CSKA players were more accurate and won 5-4.
CSKA will face Krasnodar in the semifinals of the Russian Cup. Dynamo Makhachkala will play against the winner of the match between Neftekhimik and Rostov in the regional cup.
