Cyclone Montha: Heavy Rainfall Hits Andhra Pradesh, Odisha-Bengal, Tamil Nadu

Cyclone Montha made landfall near the coast of Andhra Pradesh on Monday. The weather department reported heavy rainfall in six states – Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, West Bengal, and Kerala. According to the officials, Cyclone Montha is expected to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm on Tuesday morning and hit Kakinada port in Andhra Pradesh by evening or night. The weather department warned that wind speeds of up to 110 km per hour can be expected during the cyclone. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu issued necessary instructions to officials to ensure preparedness for the cyclone and also discussed the situation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
