Nikita Simonyan, Spartak Moscow’s best striker in history, passed away at the age of 99 after celebrating his birthday on October 12th. The news was reported by Match TV on their Telegram channel. ‘Nikita Pavlovich felt unwell on November 20th and was hospitalized. Today he passed away,’ said Alexander Mirzoyan, President of the Union of Football Veterans of Russia. On October 10th, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the former footballer the title of Hero of Labor of Russia. Simonyan received the title for his outstanding contributions to the state, as well as his significant role in the development and popularization of Russian football.
