Indonesia’s president assures survivors that help is on the way as governments in Asia intensify their responses to a disaster that has claimed more than 1,000 lives. The recent floods and landslides have left hundreds missing, with casualties numbering at least 469 in Indonesia, 334 in Sri Lanka, and 170 in Thailand. President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has committed to rebuilding infrastructure in affected areas, such as Sumatra, where thousands are homeless and 474 individuals remain unaccounted for. Inaccessible regions persist due to damaged roads and communication lines, with affected residents relying on air support for supplies.
