European Parliament member Diana Iovanovici-Șoșoacă, the president of S.O.S. Romania, is currently in Soci, Russia, attending the second BRICS – Europe Congress, an international high-level event bringing together political leaders, experts, and representatives from several countries, as stated in a press release from SOS. ‘The conference topics address global challenges and perspectives on multilateral cooperation. Before the official opening of the proceedings, Diana Iovanovici-Șoșoacă met with the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Russian State Duma, Leonid Sluțki, one of the most influential voices in Russian parliamentary diplomacy,’ SOS further informed. ‘The discussion focused on the importance of revitalizing parliamentary diplomacy in the current geopolitical context and the need to maintain dialogue channels between European states and the countries in the BRICS structure. In his view, Leonid Sluțki considers the 21st century as the century of parliamentary diplomacy, with multipolarity being seen as the foundation of the future world. Leonid Sluțki is known for his active role in promoting multipolar dialogue and for the close relationships he maintains with parliamentary forums in Europe and Asia,’ SOS conveyed.
