The emergency situation in Sri Lanka has unfolded due to the severity of the damages caused by the Didva storm. The storm brought heavy rainfall to several parts of the country. This has led to flooding of homes, streets, disrupting the normal life of the general public. In this situation, elephants seen submerged in floodwaters in the majestical parts of the country have caused astonishment. In response to the storm damages, an all-party meeting was held in the country. It was decided to declare a state of emergency to expedite rescue and relief operations.
