Russia is actively working on disinforming Ukrainians in temporarily occupied territories through the popular messaging app Telegram. Pro-Kremlin fake accounts have flooded Telegram with thousands of targeted messages. Russia is attempting a “digital occupation” of Ukraine by using a massive network of pro-Kremlin bots filling the mobile phones of residents in the occupied areas with content aimed at spreading propaganda and disinformation. The goal is to control the information flow and influence the opinions of Ukrainians in these regions.
