FBI Director Kash Patel, alongside Utah Sheriff, announced on Monday (15) that DNA evidence found at the scene of American conservative influencer Charlie Kirk’s murder matched that of suspect Tyler Robinson. The towel wrapped around the gun found by police and a screwdriver on the roof from where the shot was fired were analyzed for DNA traces. “I can report today that the DNA found on the towel wrapped around the weapon and the DNA on the screwdriver have been successfully processed and match the suspect in custody,” Patel told Fox News.
In the interview, Patel also mentioned a note that Robinson allegedly wrote before the crime, recovered by police even after being destroyed. According to Patel, the note read: “I have the opportunity to eliminate Charlie Kirk, and I will seize it.” “Although it was destroyed, we found forensic evidence of the note” at the family home of the alleged killer, said the FBI director.
Robinson, 22, was arrested on Thursday (11) after a 33-hour chase. Utah authorities are preparing to file charges of murder against Robinson on Tuesday (16). On Sunday (14), Utah Governor Spencer Cox stated that Tyler Robinson did not confess to the crime and has not been cooperating with authorities.
