Dubai Air Show Crash: Technical Failure or Pilot Error? Experts Express Concerns

The crash of the Tejas fighter jet during the Dubai Air Show 2025 has left everyone stunned. The exact cause of this incident has not been revealed yet, but experts have raised a concerning theory. Analysts believe that during air shows, pilots are at risk of experiencing ‘G-Force Blackout’ or losing control of the aircraft. The video footage of the incident also showed the plane suddenly descending at a lower altitude, indicating a possible loss of control, fueling further speculation.

Experts’ Opinion: Becoming a ‘High Gravity’ Enemy?
Retired Wing Commander and expert Captain Anil Gaurav has closely analyzed this incident. In a conversation with news agency ANI, he mentioned, ‘It appears that during the high-speed acrobatics at air shows, the pilot may have lost control of the aircraft due to either a blackout caused by high gravity force or experiencing high gravity force-induced blackout.’

Understanding G-Force Blackout
When fighter jets perform rapid maneuvers or acrobatics in the air, the gravitational force increases significantly. In such situations, the body’s blood rushes downwards towards the feet. Pilots wear special ‘G-Suits’ to push blood back up to the head by applying pressure to the legs. However, if the pressure increases to a certain extent, the pilot may lose consciousness momentarily, known as ‘G-LOC’ (G-force induced Loss Of Consciousness). Experts are concerned that such incidents could have also occurred with Tejas.

Incident Timeline: When and How Did the Crash Happen?
The tragic incident occurred on Friday, November 21, 2025, at around 2:10 PM local time. The Indian Air Force’s Tejas aircraft was performing an aerobatic display during the Dubai Air Show 2025 when it suddenly descended and crashed. The cockpit data will be crucial in determining the sequence of events leading to the crash.

Focus on Cockpit Data
Expressing deep sorrow over the demise of Wing Commander Syal, retired Captain Anil Gaurav stated, ‘Losing our brave pilot is extremely heartbreaking.’ He emphasized that the true cause of the tragedy will be revealed through the analysis of the black box and cockpit voice recorder data. Currently, the Indian Air Force has initiated a high-level investigation.
