Egypt and Sudan’s Firm Rejection of Unilateral Measures on Nile Water

Egypt and Sudan reaffirmed their strong stance on Wednesday, rejecting any unilateral actions concerning the Blue Nile. The dispute revolves around Ethiopia’s construction of a dam project that affects the downstream nations, as reported by Anadolu. During a meeting in Cairo, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed the importance of adhering to international laws and agreements, emphasizing that unilateral actions would only aggravate tensions and hinder peaceful solutions. Sudanese Water Minister Yasser Abbas echoed Shoukry’s sentiments, declaring that both countries reject any measures that do not consider the interests of Egypt and Sudan. The unity exhibited by Egypt and Sudan in this matter sends a clear message to Ethiopia, urging a collaborative approach to resolve the Blue Nile issue through mutual agreements and respect for all involved parties.
