Egypt Opens Pharaoh’s Tomb to the Public

Tourism Minister Sherif Faty unveiled the restored tomb – which is over 3000 years old – to the press on Saturday. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, who heads the country’s antiquities authority, said the tomb was in such poor condition that it took over two decades of ‘incredibly delicate work’ to restore it. The reopening of the tomb is a significant moment in Egypt’s efforts to showcase its rich archaeological heritage to visitors from around the world. The tomb of Amenhotep III is located on the west bank of Luxor, near the Valley of the Kings, and is known for its intricate artwork and hieroglyphics. Visitors can now explore the burial chambers and learn about the life and reign of this ancient Egyptian ruler.
