Egyptian authorities announced on Monday that Alaa Abd El-Fattah, a British-Egyptian dual national who has been imprisoned for six years, has been granted a presidential pardon. El-Fattah was a prominent voice during Egypt’s 2011 Arab Spring uprising. The news of his release was confirmed by his lawyer Khaled Ali and a statement on Egypt’s state TV.
