Egyptian Official Criticizes Trump’s Proposed Plan for Gaza

Egypt’s State Information Service head, Diaa Rashwan, expressed opposition to US President Donald Trump’s proposed plan for the Gaza Strip. Rashwan argued that the plan separating Gaza’s administration from an international stability force would not be accepted by Palestinians. He clarified that the proposed stability force in Gaza would have a military role in securing the region and overseeing Israel’s withdrawal. The plan also includes a peace council to manage the strip. Rashwan emphasized that assigning an international military force to disarm Hamas could lead to confrontations and armed clashes. He suggested that trained Palestinian police should handle Gaza’s internal affairs, with an independent committee managing day-to-day governance. Rashwan concluded that Palestinians would view a foreign security administration in Gaza as occupation rather than guardianship.
