Egypt’s Grand Museum: A Treasure Trove of Antiquities

When British archaeologist Howard Carter first gazed into King Tutankhamen’s tomb in 1922, he famously exclaimed, ‘Wonderful things.’ More than 5,500 of these ‘wonderful things’ are now on display in a new exhibit at the Grand Egyptian Museum, aiming to evoke the same sense of awe. The museum, with the Great Pyramids of Giza as its backdrop, represents a lavish and long-awaited project that opened to the public this week. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi described the museum as a ‘gift from Egypt to the world’ during the grand opening ceremony.
