Egypt’s New High-Speed Trains Unveiled with Speeds of 155mph

Travelers and critical cargo in Egypt will soon benefit from the latest high-speed trains presented by Siemens Mobility. The new Velaro train version, capable of speeds up to 250 kilometers per hour (155 miles per hour), was showcased at the TransMEA 2025 show in New Cairo. With plans to deploy 41 trains on a 2,000-kilometer high-speed network that will connect major Egyptian cities, Siemens foresees a significant reduction in travel times up to 50%. Developed in partnership with Arab Contractors and Orascom Construction, the project aims to enhance connectivity for nearly 90% of the population. The fleet of trains, engineered in Germany, is adapted to withstand Egypt’s desert climate with advanced filtration systems and cooling mechanisms to combat sand, heat, and dust.
