A tragic incident unfolded in Central Java as heavy rainfall triggered a devastating landslide that resulted in the loss of 11 lives, confirmed by Indonesia’s disaster management agency. The search for around 12 missing residents is ongoing as rescue teams navigate challenging conditions. The landslide took place in Cilacap city, specifically in Cibeunying village, where multiple homes were engulfed by the collapsing hillside. Antara reported the difficulties faced by rescue operations due to debris estimated to be between 3 to 8 meters deep. Agency spokesperson Abdul Muhari informed Reuters of the retrieval of 11 victims, with 12 individuals still unaccounted for.
