ADDIS ABABA: Ethiopia and Malaysia have agreed to elevate their 60-year-old diplomatic ties to new heights by exploring avenues of collaboration. The decision was made during a meeting between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Ethiopia’s President Taye Atske-Selassie Amde. Anwar highlighted the potential for cooperation in high-value sectors like semiconductors, halal economy, and cyber security, which could pave the way for mutual growth. He also mentioned Malaysia’s commitment to reopening its embassy in Addis Ababa in September, acknowledging Ethiopia’s significance as a key diplomatic center in Africa. Additionally, he welcomed Ethiopia’s decision to establish an embassy in Kuala Lumpur, emphasizing the importance of fostering trust and friendship between the two nations.
