Ethiopia confirmed on Monday that three deaths have been linked to the Marburg hemorrhagic virus, which has been reported in an area bordering South Sudan. Health Minister Mekdes Daba disclosed that the outbreak was announced after testing 17 suspected cases in the country’s south, specifically in the Omo region. Immediate preventive measures have been implemented despite no active cases currently observed. Support from the World Health Organization and Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is being mobilized to assist in testing and controlling the outbreak.
