A plume of volcanic ash from Ethiopia’s Hayli Gubbi volcano is expected to reach parts of western India on Tuesday and then move towards several northern states. The eruption, the first in 12,000 years, occurred in the Rift Valley, a region of seismic activity. IndiaMetSky Weather forecasts the ash cloud to enter Gujarat and head towards Rajasthan, northwest Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab by 10 pm today, eventually affecting the Himalayas and surrounding areas.
