The Hayli Gubbi volcano, located in Ethiopia’s northeastern region, erupted for the first time in 10,000 years, affecting flights all the way to Delhi. Ash clouds from the volcanic eruption spread across parts of northwest India on Monday night, reaching areas like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi-NCR, and Punjab, as reported by the Hindustan Times. There are concerns that the clouds could also move towards western India. India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has instructed airlines to avoid the affected regions to ensure passenger safety. The plumes are anticipated to reach western and northern India soon.
