Ethiopia volcano eruption leaves villages under ash

The Toulouse Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre in France confirmed the eruption after observing it on satellite images. According to reports, no human lives or livestock were lost, but many villages were heavily covered in ash, affecting the animals’ food sources. The eruption was unprecedented, with no known record of the volcano erupting before. In the Afar region, known for experiencing earthquakes, the eruption was described as feeling like a bomb by one resident, Ahmed Abdela. He explained hearing a loud noise and feeling a shock wave, as if a sudden bomb had been thrown with smoke and ash. The village near the Danakil desert remained covered in ash, with tourists and guides stranded due to the aftermath of the eruption. The Toulouse Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre in France also shared confirmation of the eruption through satellite images. Local authorities provided photos and videos showing ash rising high from the volcano.
