Ethiopia’s volcano, inactive for 10,000 years, erupted on Sunday. The eruption sent ash clouds up to approximately 15 km high. According to the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC), the explosion began around 8:30 UT around the Erta Ale range in the Afar region of Ethiopia. Officials and airlines are closely monitoring the ash cloud to ensure safe air travel. The VAAC stated that the eruption has now subsided, but a large ash cloud is moving towards northern India, prompting weather agencies to keep a close eye on its direction.
