EU Commissioner for Equality and Acting Commissioner for Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib expressed her desire to visit the Gaza Strip during her trip to Egypt. However, Israel did not grant her permission to cross the border, reported Anadolu. Lahbib highlighted the tragic situation in Gaza, with Palestinians losing their lives daily, especially children. Since the recent ceasefire, 347 Palestinians, including 67 children, have been killed. She emphasized the urgent need to witness the conditions firsthand but lamented Israel’s denial of permission, stating it deeply saddened her.
