Even a Moose Would Dodge: BMW X3 Fails Stability Test

Journalists from the Spanish publication Km77 conducted the classic ‘moose test’ for the fourth-generation BMW X3. Three versions of the model were tested – two X3 M50 xDrive and one diesel xDrive20d. The results were unexpected: none of the vehicles managed to pass the maneuver at a speed of 77 km/h. The best results were achieved by the X3 M50 xDrive at 69 km/h and the diesel version at 67 km/h. However, all cars showed a clear lack of agility, with the stability system triggering too sharply, forcing drivers to reduce speed to successfully complete the exercise. Yet, in the slalom, the crossover performed much better. The M50 xDrive version with a 3.0-liter Twin Turbo engine (398 hp) achieved a time of 24 seconds, and the diesel version 25.3 seconds.
