Extratropical Cyclone Advances Through the South and Causes Damage

The São Paulo Civil Defense issued an alert on Friday (7) for the arrival of an extratropical cyclone advancing through the South of the country, expected to reach the State between midnight and 1 am on Saturday (8). The forecast indicates winds of up to 100 km/h on the coast and gusts of up to 70 km/h in São Paulo, in addition to heavy rain in some regions. According to Major Michele César from the State Emergency Management Center (CGE), the phenomenon has already caused damage in Paraná, where gusts exceeded 100 km/h. ‘We are monitoring the situation using radars, satellites, and weather stations, as well as maintaining direct contact with the civil defenses of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and Paraná,’ she said in an interview with Jovem Pan.
