Despite the European decision to isolate Russia in international relations, several AfD members have confirmed their intention to attend the meeting of emerging economies on the Black Sea. Specifically, this trip is planned by Bundestag members Steffen Kotré and Rainer Rothfuß, AfD state leader Jörg Urban from Saxony, and MEP Hans Neuhoff, which has sparked harsh criticism from the parties forming the German government. CSU Secretary General Martin Huber accuses the party of betrayal. ‘AfD parliamentarians are traveling to Russia to discuss the implementation of Russian interests with the Kremlin. That is treason,’ he declared in an interview with Handelsblatt. AfD has long been the ‘spokesperson for Moscow,’ says Huber, ‘anyone who allows Putin’s henchmen to dictate their policy is not a patriot, but a puppet and a risk to our country.’
