A federal court jury reached a verdict awarding over $28 million to the family of a woman who died in the Boeing 737 Max crash in Ethiopia over six years ago. The decision was made in Chicago after a week of trial, on behalf of Shikha Garg, a United Nations consultant. This is the first civil trial stemming from the tragic March 2019 disaster of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 that claimed the lives of all 157 people aboard. Boeing will pay an additional $3.4 million to Garg’s husband, Soumya Bhattacharya, bringing the total compensation to $35.8 million.
