Farewell Ceremony for Nikita Simonyan Held at Spartak Stadium

The farewell ceremony for the legendary Russian footballer Nikita Simonyan concluded at the Spartak Stadium. He was bid farewell from his home ground at the ‘Lukoil Arena’, amidst applause and Frank Sinatra’s song ‘My Way’, a choice that was Simonyan’s final wish. Simonyan passed away on November 23 at the age of 100. He remains Spartak’s all-time leading goal scorer with 160 goals and won four Soviet championships and two Soviet Cups with the team. Apart from Spartak, Simonyan also played for Dynamo (Sukhumi) and Moscow’s Krylya Sovetov.
