A fire broke out near 3 a.m. at the Comunidade Terapêutica Liberta-se, a drug rehabilitation center in the rural area of Boqueirão in the Paranoá region. The flames engulfed the building, claiming the lives of five people and injuring eleven individuals. The fire reportedly started in the early hours of Sunday. The firefighters from the Military Fire Department of the Federal District arrived at the scene to find high flames emanating from the roof, quickly spreading throughout the house.
Five bodies, yet to be identified, were discovered lifeless inside the house. Eleven people, aged between 21 and 55, were treated on-site for smoke inhalation symptoms and were subsequently taken to nearby hospitals. One man was transported by the SAMU ambulance service. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
The authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic outcome. In the meantime, the community is mourning the loss of five individuals who perished in the fire. Updates on the investigation and the identification of the deceased are expected to be released as more information becomes available.
