Flamengo and Palmeiras fans clash on their way to the stadium for the Libertadores final in Lima

On their way to the Monumental stadium, where this Saturday’s decision will crown either Flamengo or Palmeiras as the first four-time Copa Libertadores champion, fans from both teams were involved in yet another altercation in Lima, Peru, the venue for the final. In front of a restaurant, red-black fans pushed and assaulted a green-white supporter. The man was supposedly wearing a Palmeiras organized supporter’s shirt — which cannot be identified in the footage — but was forced to take off the clothing by rival fans who approached him, knocking him down with kicks and punches. The situation did not escalate thanks to the presence of other green-white fans who separated the conflict and removed his shirt.
