Flamengo arrives in Lima for Libertadores final embraced by hundreds of fans

The Flamengo squad landed in Lima around 10 p.m. and arrived at the hotel where they will be staying about an hour later. Since Wednesday afternoon, fans gathered in the Miraflores neighborhood for the players’ reception. Around 7 p.m., the Flamengo supporters started a walk through the streets of the Peruvian capital towards the hotel, which was adorned in red and black.
The celebration outside featured fireworks and flares as the bus carrying the Flamengo delegation arrived. Danilo, Léo Pereira, and Wallace Yan stopped to speak with fans. Inside the hotel, Saúl, Jorginho, Everton Araújo, and Bruno Henrique greeted the supporters with photos and autographs.
Flamengo traveled with all the players from the squad, including Pedro, who will not play in the final due to a left thigh injury, and Plata, who is suspended. The team will train on Thursday and Friday at the Peruvian national team’s training center, the same facility they used in 2019 when they won the Libertadores title against River Plate at the Monumental Stadium.
The Flamengo team has won the Copa Libertadores on three other occasions, in 1981, 2019, and 2022. If they win this year, Flamengo will become the first Brazilian club to have four Libertadores titles.
