Flamengo defeats Bragantino, pulls away from Palmeiras and sees title closer

A week away from the biggest commitment of the year, the Libertadores final against Palmeiras, Flamengo showed no mercy to Red Bull Bragantino and won Saturday’s match 3-0 at the 35th round of the Brazilian League. The goals of the red-black victory at the Maracanã were scored by Arrascaeta, Jorginho, and Bruno Henrique, all in the second half. The red-black title also celebrated Palmeiras’ misstep, as the team drew against Fluminense at home on Saturday. In addition to the fight for the continental title, both teams continue in a fierce battle for the Brazilian League trophy. At the top of the table, Filipe Luís’ team reaches 74 points and opens a four-point gap from the second-place Palmeiras. Meanwhile, Red Bull Bragantino remains in eighth place with 45 points.
