Flamengo Defeats Sport at Maracanã and Sleeps at the Top of Brazilian League

Flamengo dominated the game and wasted chances, but defeated the last-placed Sport tonight (1st) at Maracanã and will sleep at the top of the Brazilian League. The 3-0 triumph was built with two goals from Bruno Henrique and a stunning free-kick by Arrascaeta. These were the first goals of the number 27 after an injunction by the STJD – he was punished for a case where he received a yellow card in a match against Santos after informing his family. With the result, the red-black team reached 64 points, two more than Palmeiras, who will visit Juventude tomorrow (2) and could reclaim the top spot. On the other hand, Sport is sunk in the relegation zone. The Pernambuco team has only 17 points – Santos, in 16th place, the first outside the relegation zone, has 33. In the next round, Flamengo will face São Paulo at Vila Belmiro on Wednesday. On the same day, Sport will host Juventude.
