Torrential rains on Indonesia’s Sumatra island triggered deadly flash floods and landslides, killing at least 10 people and leaving several missing as rescue teams struggle to reach isolated areas. The National Police reported that the monsoon rains led to rivers bursting their banks in six regencies of North Sumatra province, causing devastation in hilly villages. By Wednesday, rescue workers retrieved five bodies and three injured individuals in Sibolga, with four villagers still unaccounted for. Central Tapanuli also faced tragedy, with landslides claiming the lives of a family of four and flooding impacting nearly 2,000 structures.
