Flávio stages a drama to put Tarcísio in the game; “The Curse of the Mummy Reloaded”

The family is used to investing in chaos, and cannot be accused, let’s be fair, of being unsuccessful, whatever the criterion. The clan’s fortune is multimillionaire; a gigantic crowd is willing to follow their directions; without the approval of the leader — Jair dressed as Messiah —, a name for Lula’s opposing team is not chosen; they all live lavishly — including Michelle, who turned to politics, and the amazing councilman Jair Renan (PL, Balneário Camboriú) — without venturing into the private sector. And, when they try, let’s say, to live off supply and demand, they fail. But they sure sell their delusions very well. TARCÍSIO REMODELED Tarcísio is ready for the campaign. Notice that he appears more elongated, and his face has undergone a visible rearrangement to look younger than before, yet discreet enough not to seem artificial. While Bolsonaro sank into his own hells, he also went through a makeover of sorts. Everyone knew the inevitable fate of the “Myth,” due to his choices, but talking about it was forbidden. And still is. However, the final convictions of the coup plotters — happening within strict legal boundaries — was an imperative dictated by the facts. There was no reason for Alexandre to delay, a decision agreed upon by his peers. But this also sets the stage for the governor. At an official event on Tuesday, Tarcísio lamented, of course!, the arrest of his “political leader” and, more than ever, a possible candidate for the presidency, denied any intention to run under these terms: ‘I have always said that I am a candidate for re-election and I am interested in staying in São Paulo.’ With a bit more audacity, one might say that he himself does not desire it, but that it’s the will of ‘the people.’ If he doesn’t even consider the idea, sign a public statement: ‘I will not run for President, end of story!’ Of course, he won’t do that. And that’s where Flávio comes into the conversation again. He has a certain re-election to the Senate that is considered a sure thing. Running for President without the same enthusiasm that the capital and ‘the markets’, in addition to considerable sectors of the media, have for Tarcísio, might be a risk. Even if he pretends otherwise — to not upset his Texan brother —, striking a deal with the governor, seeking promises and concessions, which Eduardo has already made clear he doesn’t believe in. At least not anymore… Yesterday, Flávio took the drama up a notch. He even brought up the long-dead amnesty proposal. In practice, it highlights the group’s lack of options. It can be said: either the family truly supports Tarcísio, or they will have to choose a clan member, as the brother prefers. The only real risk he might take is to run as vice president, which close advisors to the governor advise against because it would be very difficult not to appear as a supervised candidate, not quite fitting the image he is trying to project as a ‘doer.’ At least give him credit for creating the image of being competent… The wealthy are restless and want one of their own. Eduardo is now seen as the obstacle. Some say he will resist the idea of an ‘outsider’ as a candidate to the last minute, but won’t have a choice. There are even those who claim he has already given in and is just playing a role. His belief that, if elected, Tarcísio will take care of his own political legacy and gradually erode the Bolsonaro family’s, is obviously correct. ‘Ah, then this seems positive…’ If you agree with his thoughts… CLOSING The economy is not in the chaos the far-right wagered on, quite the opposite. Discussions with the US on tariffs are progressing, with concrete results. Even if they weren’t, Brazil is not falling apart. Exports are growing. The Mercosur-European Union agreement may be reached soon. It remains for Lula’s opponents, as we’ve discussed here, to produce casualties and invest in ideological tensions. Tarcísio, obviously, senses a good moment with the, let’s say, ‘rebellion’ of Hugo Motta and David Alcolumbre against the government. Let’s see: from June onwards, every time an attempt was made to undermine Lula, the result turned out to be counterproductive. ‘It’s time to defeat Jorge Messias in the Senate…’ If that happens, how many votes does the president lose in the 2026 election? The truth is, the far-right needs a martyr to have a governing program… And so far, the program is to guarantee impunity for the coup plotters. It’s ‘The Curse of the Mummy Reloaded.’
