At least 417 people have died, 645 have been injured, and 356 are missing on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, according to the latest update on the devastating floods triggered by torrential rains that have struck the territory in recent days. The online update from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) released on Sunday saw one of the largest increases in the tragedy’s estimates, identifying over a hundred new fatalities and a hundred additional missing persons since Saturday.
