Floods and Landslides in Indonesia: At Least 69 Dead and 59 Missing

At least 69 people have died and 59 remain missing following a series of flash floods and landslides triggered by monsoon rains on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. The tragedy, primarily recorded since Tuesday in North Sumatra province, has left thousands of families displaced, with rescue teams searching for survivors and recovering bodies from the mud and debris. The rising water levels in the region led to villages on mountain slopes being devastated, with over 2,000 homes and buildings submerged, and around 5,000 residents relocated to government-provided shelters, as reported by the National Disaster Management Agency.
