Floods in Indonesia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka leave nearly a thousand dead; isolated communities reported

Bangkok/Yakarta/Colombo. The floods and landslides ravaging Indonesia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka have raised the regional death toll to at least 931 on Sunday, with hundreds still missing. Local authorities are updating figures as rains subside in some areas, but vast regions remain cut off and underwater. Indonesia is the most affected, with the majority of victims – at least 435 dead and 406 missing in several Sumatra provinces. Roads collapsed, and essential bridges were destroyed, forcing over 213,000 people to be displaced, with land access blocked.
