Focus Bulletin: Analysts Cut Exchange Rate and Inflation Projections for 2025

Market projections for inflation and exchange rate this year were revised downwards on Monday (29), according to the Focus Report released by the Central Bank. The estimate for the IPCA fell from 4.83% to 4.81%, while the prediction for the dollar decreased from R$ 5.50 to R$ 5.48. The GDP projection stood at 2.16%. Meanwhile, the forecast for the basic interest rate this year remained at 15% for the fourteenth consecutive week.

Inflation projections show a decrease for 2026 from 4.29% to 4.28%, with an estimate of 3.90% for 2027. The projection for 2028 remained at 3.70%. For the IGP-M, projections for 2025 dropped from 1.09% to 1.02% while estimates for 2026 increased from 4.18% to 4.20%. Projections for 2027 stood at 4%, and for 2028, it rose from 3.96% to 4%.

Expectations for the variation of regulated prices within the IPCA in 2025 rose from 4.75% to 4.77%. Projections for 2026 remained at 3.97%. Estimates for 2027 were 4.00%, and for 2028, it increased from 3.65 to 3.69.

For 2026, the exchange rate estimate went from R$ 5.60 to R$ 5.58, while projections for 2027 decreased from R$ 5.60 to R$ 5.65. For 2028, the estimate increased from R$ 5.54 to R$ 5.56. Regarding the GDP, median projections for 2026 were at 1.80%, remaining at 1.90% in 2027, and at 2% in 2028 for the past 81 weeks.

The prediction for the basic interest rate in 2026 was 12.25%, remaining at 10.50% for 2027, and at 10% for 2028 for 40 weeks.
