Former Apple Engineer Launches XR Chip to Challenge Vision Pro

GravityXR has introduced the Jizhi G-X100, positioning itself as a leading player in the worldwide mixed reality race. The G-X100 offers advanced spatial computing capabilities, enabling devices to seamlessly blend real-world environments with virtual overlays. Its compact and energy-efficient design makes it an ideal option for both daily wearable gadgets and professional-grade XR systems.

A key feature of the G-X100 is its remarkable photon-to-photon latency of just 9 milliseconds, outperforming Apple’s Vision Pro, which stands at around 12 milliseconds. This slight difference has a significant impact, reducing motion lag and enhancing immersion in VR and AR settings.

This achievement propels GravityXR as a serious contender in the global arena, striving to develop faster and more responsive mixed reality computing platforms. Wang Chaohao’s transition from an Apple engineer to the founder of a rival XR startup mirrors the trend in China’s tech landscape, focusing on bolstering its semiconductor and XR sectors to lessen dependence on US technology.

Chaohao’s academic background from Stanford University and his practical experience at Apple add substantial credibility to GravityXR’s vision. The startup has already secured significant investments from prominent firms like HongShan (formerly Sequoia China), Gaorong Capital, manufacturing giant Goertek, and renowned game developer miHoYo, showcasing trust in China’s expanding XR ecosystem.

In unveiling the Jizhi G-X100, GravityXR positions itself as a fresh contender in the global mixed reality arena, potentially becoming one of the pioneering Chinese companies capable of rivaling Apple in the next-generation spatial computing hardware space.
