The former president of Russia and current vice president of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, declared on Monday (29) that Europe could not afford to start a war against Russia. However, he warned that if European leaders made the mistake of triggering one, the war could escalate into a conflict with weapons of mass destruction. Medvedev stated on the Telegram messaging app that Moscow does not need such a war, even with the ‘old and cold Europe’. ‘They simply cannot afford a war with Russia,’ the former president said about the European powers, adding that ‘the possibility of a fatal accident always exists.’ According to him, ‘Such a conflict carries an absolutely real risk of turning into a war with weapons of mass destruction.’
