Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia, once an ally of US President Donald Trump, announced her resignation from the House of Representatives on Friday following disagreements between the two regarding the disclosure of files related to the case against billionaire and former Trump associate Jeffrey Epstein – who committed suicide in jail in 2019 while facing charges of sexual abuse of minors and leading a human trafficking ring. Greene also openly criticized and opposed the Trump administration’s stance on domestic and international issues. The strained relationship with Trump has become apparent with the Epstein case showcasing a weakening hold of Trump over Republicans.
