Until today, Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) document — the country’s official commitment to reduce emissions and address the climate crisis — does not explicitly mention the building sector. Despite global data showing the significant contribution of the building sector to greenhouse gas emissions, it has yet to be specifically addressed in Indonesia’s NDC. This oversight highlights the need for greater integration of the building sector into Indonesia’s climate action plans. Green Building Council (GBC) Indonesia is taking proactive steps towards achieving this integration through the Gelar Workshop initiative.
