General Amaro tells CNN that COP30 is the largest event he has ever seen

The COP30, scheduled to take place in Belém do Pará, poses an unprecedented logistical and security challenge for Brazilian authorities. The event is expected to welcome approximately 50,000 people in the capital, surpassing recent international events held in the country in magnitude. In an interview with Tainá Falcão and Teo Cury on CNN’s Behind the Scenes, General Amaro emphasized that, despite his extensive security experience, he has never been involved in an event of this scale. ‘Last year, we had the G20 and Brics meetings, and now the summit preceding COP30,… and unlike the previous events I mentioned, COP is taking place here in Belém, not in Rio de Janeiro, thus requiring greater effort,’ explained the GSI minister.
