Germany, France, and UK Condemn Israeli Airstrikes on Qatar

Germany, France, and the UK, in a joint statement on September 13, pointed out that Israel’s airstrikes on Qatar would only make peace negotiations more difficult. The three countries believe that negotiations are the key to achieving a ceasefire and securing the release of all Israeli hostages held by Hamas. Like many Western nations, Germany, France, and the UK consider Hamas a terrorist organization. On September 9, the Israeli Defense Forces launched airstrikes on Qatar, targeting several Hamas officials in the country. Hamas claimed that the airstrikes resulted in six deaths, none of whom were senior Hamas leaders. In the past few months, Hamas representatives have engaged in multiple rounds of indirect negotiations with Israel in Qatar, the US, and Egypt, periodically reaching partial ceasefires.
