General Motors has issued a bulletin warning of potential turbocharger issues in certain 2022 Chevrolet Malibu models that could lead to powertrain failure. According to the bulletin, some Malibu vehicles may experience turbocharger malfunctions, triggering the Check Engine light and possible engine power loss.
General Motors has acknowledged the problem and is offering affected Chevrolet Malibu owners a special extended 15-year/150,000-mile warranty. Under this warranty, all expenses for diagnosing and replacing the faulty turbocharger and any necessary components will be covered by the manufacturer at no cost.
Furthermore, owners who have already paid for repairs out of pocket before November 3, 2025, can submit a claim for reimbursement of their expenses. It is worth noting that production of Chevrolet Malibu models officially ceased in November 2024 when the last unit rolled off the assembly line, signaling the end of the line for this particular model by General Motors.
