President Trump opposes UK Recognition of Palestine. During a meeting with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson at Chequers, Trump expressed his disapproval of the UK’s plan to recognize Palestine. He stated that they have a disagreement about Gaza, which was one of the ‘few disagreements’ during the meeting. Johnson, on the other hand, mentioned that both countries agreed to support peace in Gaza and develop a roadmap, while emphasizing the need to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza promptly. The UK Prime Minister’s office issued a statement on July 29, indicating that if Israel does not take substantial action to end the dire situation in Gaza and commit to long-term sustainable peace, the UK will recognize Palestine before the opening of the UN General Assembly in September, in support of the feasibility of the ‘Two-State Solution’.
